Former Leeds Skipper Crocked

Former Leeds skipper Kevin Nicholls has been hit with a double injury blow after doctors found he has a hairline fracture as well as a damaged cartilage.
The Preston midfielder had an operation on Friday on the knee he injured in a reserves game at Tranmere.
Preston boss Alan Irvine revealed: "They have found he has a bit of a crack in the bone as well."
Preston are hoping the fracture, believed to be at the top of his tibia, will not delay his return to action.
"We are still looking at between four and six weeks," added Irvine. "The crack should take as long as the knee problem to heal, so that should not make it any longer."
Nicholls will probably go down in recent history as one of the worst skipper's to have worn the armband at Elland Road and we at LeedsUnitedMAD hope his return to football is long delayed!

Ritchie leaves Huddersfield post

Ritchie won 22 of his 51 matches in charge of the Terriers

Huddersfield Town manager Andy Ritchie has left the club by mutual consent.
Ritchie was only appointed boss at the Galpharm Stadium last April and leaves the club sitting 14th in League One.
Chairman Ken Davy said: "The reality is that, despite an increased spend and new signings, we have not progressed as we hoped this season."
Director of football development Gerry Murphy has been put in caretaker charge and the club hope to appoint a new manager before the end of the season.
Davy added: "Andy Ritchie is as nice a person as you could meet and we wish him every success in the future.
"Going forward, however, our focus at Huddersfield Town now has to be appointing a new manager for our centenary season."
Murphy spent a month as caretaker manager towards the end of last season, between the sacking of Peter Jackson and the appointment of Ritchie in April 2007.

Sorry venner!
Her er det nok Kjelvi som sover litt. Med det ene øye på jobb, mens det andre er inne på engelske nettsteder.
David er ikke Derek. David har ingenting med Leeds å gjøre - og dermed her ikke noe på denne tråden å gjøre.

Vår Derek er still going strong, men for beskjedne Sterling Alb.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale says the club could go into administration if they lose their court case against their creditors on March 10.
How Cardiff set Ridsdale on road to redemption

You can easily scoff at the idea of Peter Ridsdale smiling down from the posh seats at Wembley Stadium tomorrow: the man who came to personify financial mismanagement in football basking inside our great monument to overspending, in the middle of a credit crunch.
Five years after he resigned as chairman of Leeds United, his infamy lives on. To many, he will always be the man who squandered millions and brought a proud club to the brink of ruin.

Ridsdale: changing his reputation

But there is a rebranding operation under way in Wales. Ridsdale has Cardiff afloat and in an FA Cup semi-final on a shoestring budget.
It is the club's first trip to Wembley since they won the trophy in 1927 and a wonderful experience beckons, but the chairman is convinced the arena should never have been rebuilt.
It is, he insists, a waste of money. 'It's a magnificent stadium but I wouldn't have been in favour of Wembley at the time,' says Ridsdale, who was appointed to the FA Board when he was at Leeds.
The decision to rebuild had already been taken but he watched the saga unfold at close quarters.
'The right thing was to move the national team around the country, taking the game back to its roots, which is the supporters, and to play the FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium, a truly neutral ground. I wouldn't have had a national stadium.
'I also believe if the amount of money that was invested had been put back into grassroots football we would stand a far better chance of competing at international level.
'Schools football needs pitches, there's no money in the Championship, League One or Two. There's no money below that level and yet you see these superstars and multi-millionaires in the Barclays Premier League.'
Some might consider him the last person to preach, especially Leeds fans, who saw their club crippled by debts of £103m and who travel to Leyton Orient today. But Ridsdale has always tried to connect with supporters.
Those who watch teams fighting to survive outside the Premier League might find it hard to disagree.
'The game is starved of cash outside the Premier League, and the Premier League have distanced themselves from the normal supporter and from the rest of professional football,' Ridsdale added.
'When it was formed, the TV revenues were probably two or three times what the Championship got. Now it's about 35 times.
'That can't be right. How do a club like Cardiff, turning over £10m a year, suddenly find they can get promoted and have £35m of TV revenue and two more years of £11m parachute payments?
How can a wage bill be £120m a-year at one Premier League club?
'The Premier League are in grave danger of creating a sterile environment where you know who the top four will be and you know the promoted teams will probably be in the bottom three.
'Who is going to watch that? There's a massive gulf. I think the Premier League enjoy that. It means most of their participants are safe most years.'
Cardiff's opponents at Wembley are Barnsley, where Ridsdale made his return to football after leaving Elland Road in 2003.
He was invited to Oakwell to help them out of administration and his methods included sacking popular, long-serving backroom staff and offloading high-earning players while still paying a share of their wages.
'I look back now and realise I should not have gone there,' Ridsdale said. 'I was still mentally scarred from what happened at Leeds.
'I wasn't confident and, while I did the job and was proud of it, it was right to move on.'
Sam Hammam took him to Ninian Park. Ridsdale inherited the hot-seat and plenty of problems.
The FA Cup run has been clouded by a High Court battle over a £24m loan, settled in Cardiff's favour last month. They will have to repay the money, but not yet.
Ridsdale said: 'If you turn over £10m a year and you inherit debts of £24m, it's a massive challenge ever to pay that back.
'In addition, we owe the Inland Revenue £1.7m, local architects more than £2m, former directors £2m and without the new stadium we have no chance of survival.
'We had to come in and be ruthless. We had to sell anybody with any value. We brought in the best manager we could afford in Dave Jones and we've used our skills and talents to acquire, in the main, free transfers.
'Each summer we've sold another player to top up the cash to make sure we survive.'
The sales of Danny Gabbidon, James Collins, Cameron Jerome and Michael Chopra helped pay the bills but, when the court case threatened the cashflow again, Spurs were encouraged to pay up to £2m for Chris Gunter in January.
'There isn't a bank in this country that will lend us money,' said Ridsdale. 'If people ask what our bank overdraft is, the answer is nothing. Why? They won't give us one. We'd love to have one.'
The FA Cup has thrown a financial lifeline to Cardiff and Ridsdale feels a far greater sense of satisfaction than he did taking Leeds to the last four of the UEFA Cup in 2000 and then the Champions League, a year later.
'At Leeds, we assembled a team we expected to be in Europe most years, we had so many international footballers.
'At Cardiff, you don't enter the FA Cup believing you're ever going to get to the semi-final. The achievement feels a lot greater than it did at Leeds.'

Harte er jo til tross for litt manglende fart i beina, en moderne backtype. Offensiv og skuddvillig!

Huckerby - unsure of future.

HUCKERBY'S FUTURE REMAINS UNCLEAR
Darren Huckerby admits he is still in the dark as to what the future holds for him.
The Norwich forward is out of contract at the end of the season and after the 2-0 win over Burnley revealed he had no concrete plans.
He said: "No-one has said anything to me about a new contract but I'm not going to put any pressure on the club by saying too much about that. If they offer me a contract they do and if they don't, they don't. I'll just wait and see what happens.
"The most important thing was that we won the game. It was nice to play well and get the result we deserved especially after what happened last week when we were very unfortunate to lose.
"We should have probably won by a few more but at the end of the day, we'll take the points. Whether that makes us safe I don't know, we've just got to keep on racking up the wins if we can.
"Now we can all look forward to Ipswich next Sunday. That could be my 200th appearance for Norwich so hopefully I will be involved."
