By James Findlater 11:00, 28 JUL 2020Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has revealed the club is now worth three times the amount he bought it for following promotion to the Premier League.The Whites will be back in the top flight for the first time since 2004 next season, having won the Championship title to earn their long-awaited promotion.
The return to the top tier is set to provide a huge financial boost for the club, with promotion to the Premier League estimated to be worth around £200million for clubs.
Since Leeds changed hands from Massimo Cellino to Radrizzani, the club’s value has only risen, with the Italian telling Corriere della Sera that
United are now worth £300m, having bought them for £100m in 2017.
And the businessman has lofty ambitions for the club, stating that they could be worth £1billion if they can re-establish themselves as a Premier League club.
“Leeds is a lively, electric, passionate city. The brand is famous worldwide,†Radrizzani said.
“We also bought back the stadium, Elland Road. Potentially the value can reach one billion.
“But first we have to stay in the Premier League for at least three years, then we can also fly to Europe, the goal is obviously to go to the Champions League. Dreaming big is a duty for those who do business.â€
When asked how much the Premier League TV rights is worth to Leeds, Radrizzani explained: “More or less €100m.
“We have international partnerships with Amazon Prime, Adidas, Uber, Deliveroo. A modern club must aim to internationalise the brand.
“Next season we will reach £180-200 million in turnover. Similar to AC Milan.â€
