Regner med at ikke så veldig mange hører på Hay ('the Athletic' sammen med noen fra Squareball) sine podcasts:
I don’t know if you heard the Phil Hay podcast, but he said something interesting (I thought). No club sets out it’s precise transfer policy to a journalist. They might reveal some general thoughts. Most clubs, Leeds certainly, will have multiple player options for a position, and it will be sort of iterative between Bielsa and Orta - Orta won’t put a firm option to Bielsa until there’s a real chance that a club will be open to a deal; Bielsa won’t normally ‘insist’ on a player, with exceptions (Adams, White) and once they become unachievable, they get dropped.
But - and of course this makes sense if you think about it - most rumours and tips to journalists come from agents, not inside info from clubs. Hay is respected and influential, so presumably doesn’t just report any old shit, but he did stress the importance of agent info (presumably where Alan Nixon’s ‘scoops’ come from).
