LUFC Mixed emotions for KilkennyNeil Kilkenny has mixed emotions about his call up to the Australian squad for their Asian Cup participation in January.
Kilkenny has been included in the provisional 50-man squad for the tournament and he will find out on the 28th December whether he will be part of the 23-man squad travelling to Qatar.
The midfielder is delighted with the call up but is desperate to play against his first club Arsenal in the FA Cup.
The tournament is due to start the day before the clash at Arsenal in the FA Cup, meaning he would miss out if making the final squad.
Speaking in the YEP, Kilkenny said, 'It's (Arsenal) a special one for me, although I don't know if I'll be playing yet because I may be going away with Australia. So I don't know yet.
'It would be a choker to miss that but, at the end of the day, it's an honour to represent my country. But obviously I want to play for Leeds as well.'If he does make the cut then Kilkenny could be missing for most of January with the tournament running from January 7th - 29th.
Despite being born in Enfield, England, Kilkenny chose to represent Australia after spending most of his childhood there.
The 25 year old has represented Australia on two occasions since making his debut in the summer of 2006 against Liechtenstein.
He`s also represented Australia in the Olympics when he made one appearance during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
